great tempura
gets hot, stays hot, easy to clean and makes great tempura. what else do you need?

The best deep fryer I have owned!
My family is big on fried foods. We seriously use a deep fryer at least three times a week and have owned several. This fryer heats up super quick, clean up is easy and it has an automatic shut off. I have never had any problem with the food not coming out done.

magnetic cord sucks
This could be a really good fryer. Except----this stupid, brain dead magnetic cord-obviously designed for "safety reasons"--which escape me at the present time. Anyway, the "safety" cord keeps falling off, temperature of the oil goes down, and the meal is ruined. I am going to cut the cord off, and solder the wires internally to ensure a solid and "safe" connection. Maybe then this thing will work right. I will never buy anything again with a so-called "safe" magnetic cord. Safe for what--keep morons away from hot deep fat fryers--duh!!!!!

What We Wanted
A simplistic approach to deep frying small amounts. For that purpose and this price, it's all you might need.

Good little fryer
I owned one of these guys about 15 years ago but somehow lost track of it. I tried those plastic fryers with closable lids that are supposed to keep the smell inside but hated it. It was difficult to keep the outside clean, the filter got clogged and the smell came into the house anyway. So got rid of that and returned to this little guy.

I don't fry that much anymore because the latest health reports are that you should not eat that much of it so this is reserved for those times where you just have to have french fries or deep fried fish. The advantage is that it is small and you don't have to use a lot of oil. The disadvantage is that it is small so you can only make a small amount. It is really smaller than I realized but that is what it is designed to be so I am not complaining about that. That magnetic safety plug is very safe. You surely wouldn't pull it down upon yourself but I did accidentally unplug it by just moving it over a little bit. Now I know how sensitive it is.

It's good for once in a while useage so it is perfect for what I need. However, if you have a larger family you should buy something bigger. They have the Fry Grand Daddy or you could just get two of these and keep one for fish and one for other. Hey, I might just do that! I like it!

Compact and efficient
I bought this deep fryer to replace an ancient Tefal unit that had finally gotten too gross to use. The DeLonghi deep fryer suprised me initially, because it is so much smaller and lighter than the Tefal, but it has turned out to be a great appliance for me -- although I'm not cooking for a family, the capacity is at least as good as the Tefal it replaced.

The best thing about the DeLonghi is that it is much easier to drain when cooking is over, and so much easier to clean that it's difficult to credit. The deep frying unit is an immersion heater rather than a built-in heat supply and the entire deep fryer breaks down into components that are very easy to wash thoroughly. There are no hinges or any other crannies to trap grease.

It also has a very nice temperature control unit, with far more settings than the Tefal had. The only downside I've found was that the magnetically-attached power cord had a tendency to fall off when I first used it, resulting in a batch of chicken wings sitting for a long time in cooling oil. Now that I've gotten the hang of it, there have been no more problems.

Excellent
Just received my ProFry and I can say we are delighted with it. The main concern I had was that it wouldn't get the oil hot enough to cook the foods the right way and we were happy that it worked perfectly.
I tested it first by making tortilla chips...amazing! These are so wonderful; just as good as my favorites at the neighborhood Mexican restaurant.
I'm looking forward to making all kinds of great tasting foods.

Presto 05466 Profry SS Dual-Basket Deep Fryer
Having read previous reviews on this product prior to purchasing it, I knew how to avoid problems with the unit and it worked perfectly. It didn't take long for the oil to heat and the food cooked fast and evenly. I just kept the oil at the mark set on the side of the container and didn't overload the baskets. By only putting a single layer of fish in at a time, the cooking was fast (about 3 minutes) and the food evenly cooked. I'd recommend this product to everyone.
